The legacy of our work is deeply tied to the brilliance of Anglo-Irish glassmaking. In the 18th century, Irish craftsmen refined Venetian techniques, pioneering the use of lead oxide to enhance brilliance and refraction. Their faceted glassware, illuminated by candlelight, transformed homes and palaces with dazzling light. During the “Period of Freedom” (1780–1825), Irish glassmakers exported masterpieces worldwide, from tableware to chandeliers, securing Waterford’s place as a global symbol of quality and beauty.
